Infusing Latino Flavor in Nampa, ID

Learn more about our roots

Our owner and founder, Estefania Mondragón, has always had entrepreneurial ambitions. Coming from a family of immigrant farmworkers hailing from Guanajuato, Mexico, she wanted to build something in Nampa, ID that reflected her Latin roots. When the opportunity to take over the local downtown La Playita presented itself, our founder took it. Hence, Calle  was born.

“Calle,” which translates to “street” in English, plays off the fact that our restaurant is located on 1st Street. It’s also a nod to our Latin origins. Being a cafe during the day and a beer and wine hangout at night, our restaurant is the perfect place to experience the art and flavor of Mexico without leaving the country. You’ll go from saying, “Hay comida en la casa” (“There is food at home”) to saying, “Hay comida en la Calle.”

Building bridges in everything we do

Supporting our neighbors is at the center of our founder’s heart. Along with sharing the joys of Latin-based dishes with the Nampa, ID community, Estefania also serves as Executive Director for PODER of Idaho and a business consultant for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training.
